SALT LAKE CITY â The Utah Utes wrapped up nonconference play Saturday with a 31-0 win over the visiting Idaho State Bengals. The win gave Utah the boost it needed to, again, move up in the national rankings ahead of a difficult conference slate that starts with USC on the road.
Utah moved up to No. 10 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll, up one spot from its previous spot at No. 11. Utah also moved up to No. 11 in the USA Today Coaches Poll Sunday, up one spot from its previous spot at No. 12.
No teams ahead of Utah lost over the weekend, but Michigan dropped one spot in the AP Poll and Penn State dropped one spot in the Coaches Poll to move the Utes up.
The Utes remains the Pac-12 favorite in the rankings and are one of two teams represented from the South Division this week. USC had been previously ranked but suffered a road loss to BYU to drop them out of the rankings just one week after being voted into the Top 25 for the first time this season.
Following Utah in the AP Top 25 this week is No. 16 Oregon, No. 19 Washington State, No. 22 Washington, No. 23 California and No. 24 Arizona State. Oregon was ranked No. 17 and Washington No. 17 in the Coaches Poll. All other Pac-12 programs earned wins in Week 3 of play, with Washington State squeaking out a 31-24 win over Houston in a neutral game matchup in Texas on Friday.
Arizona State upset Michigan State in a low-scoring affair to jump into the Top 25 for the first time this season. They're joined by Cal, who claimed a 23-17 win over North Texas and is ranked for the first time this season.
Arizona is the only other team from the conference that is receiving votes. BYU, which stunned the Trojans at LaVell Edwards Stadium Saturday in overtime, also received votes this week, a first for the season for the Cougars.

The week didnât feature any ranked teams going up against each other, but there was still chaos to be had, including Maryland and USC spending only one week in the Top 25 after dropping their third game of the season.Voters kept their Top 5 intact, with Clemson named the consensus favorite at No. 1 after a 41-6 dismantling of Syracuse on the road. The Tigers appear to have little opposition en route to another College Football Playoff appearance, though the season is still early. Behind Clemson is No. 2 Alabama, No. 3 Georgia, No. 4 LSU and No. 5 Oklahoma.
The Coaches Poll differs in that Oklahoma and LSU are switched.
The upcoming weekend features three games where both opponents are ranked, including a Top 10 matchup in Athens, Georgia, as No. 7 Notre Dame will be on the road to take on No. 3 Georgia in a highly-anticipated game on CBS at 6 p.m. MDT.
Other games featuring ranked opponent include No. 11 Michigan meeting up with No. 13 Wisconsin in Madison, Wisconsin, and No. 8 Auburn looking to claim another Top 25 win this season against No. 17 Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.
