SALT LAKE CITY â Utah State quarterback Jordan Love was named to the Davey OâBrien National Quarterback Award watchlist Tuesday.
The junior is one of 30 quarterbacks across the nation to make the list. He joins Cole McDonald of Hawaiâi as the only two representatives from the Mountain West Conference.
It's the second consecutive season Love was named to the preseason watchlist. Last season he moved on to be one of the semifinalists for the award. After week 11, Love was named to the âGreat 8â list that season. Love is joined this year by eight other semifinalists from last season.
The watchlist for this award is determined by the athleteâs success in the previous season as well as how they are projected to do in the upcoming season. Love received All-Mountain West honors after the 2018 season, and was honored multiple times in Phil Steeleâs Magazine.
Heading into the 2019 season, Love has already been named to the Maxwell Award watchlist, and is on the First-Team All-Mountain West lists put out by both Athlon Sports and Phil Steeleâs Magazine.
Love set school records last year with his 32 touchdown passes and 3,567 passing yards. He also leads the school with seven 300-yard passing games, 234 points and five Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week recognitions.
He had two 400-yard passing games, which tied the school record; and in two different games, he threw five touchdown passes, making him only the fifth Utah State quarterback to do so.
In his Aggie career, Love has thrown 40 touchdowns and passed for 5,198 yards. He is in the schoolâs Top 10 for touchdown passes, completion percentage, passing yards, completions and total offense.
