FLIPPING OUT — After coming off a miserable 4-9 season, a lot of BYU fans would’ve predicted some coaches might figuratively “lose their heads” if the Cougar football team went into a similar tailspin in 2018.
Those talks have quieted down with BYU’s surprising 3-1 start that has the Cougars ranked No. 20 by the Associated Press.
But at least one person is losing his head in Provo — BYU’s mascot Cosmo, in quite the literal sense.
As always, click the video above for the rest of the Great Clips of the Week.
But make sure your head is squarely attached before you do.
Cosmo unmasked
Blink, and you probably missed it.
During a media timeout at LaVell Edwards Stadium, Cosmo the Cougar — known for his high-flying dance moves and active pump-up mentality — attempted a triple-axel off a springboard.
But things didn’t go quite according to plan.
Just witnessed Cosmo losing his head and the fastest first responders in the west. #BYUFootball#GoCougspic.twitter.com/4uDzOi9Pkb

Here’s the play from the front side, too.

Yes, friends; Cosmo has been unmasked.
But we need to give the real credit where credit is due — to Cosmo’s pit crew, who immediately sprung into action to repair the mascot’s broken … errr, face, and put him back together.
No actual Cougars were harmed during the making of this accident.
Move over, Zlatan
Zlatan Ibrahimovic helped the LA Galaxy to a crucial 3-0 win over Seattle on Sunday afternoon.
But that wasn’t the most impressive moment at the StubHub Center.
That’s 7-year-old Malea Emma, who won a tryout with the Galaxy to sing the national anthem before the match — and she crushed it.
Malea is a singer, model and actor, according to her website (yes, she has a website) managed by her parents. Her talents include violin, piano, imitating Aretha Franklin and hanging out with The Lion himself.
Take note, Clay Mathews
There’s been a lot of talk about safety in the NFL lately, and few positions garner the traffic of hard hits than quarterbacks.
With recent rule changes, some fans have had enough — including one Packers fan, who decided to do something about it.

Ignore the production quality for a minute, and you’ll realize that this is an excellent tutorial of how to properly sack a quarterback.
The Aaron Rodgers re-enactment was bouncing way too much on that injured knee, though.
🕷 + 🐮
In case you missed it, Utah State opened Mountain West play late Saturday night against Air Force.
But the Aggies may have reached more fans off the field — thanks to a few special guests.

Utah Jazz young guns Donovan Mitchell, Royce O’Neale and Georges Niang were among the invited guests to Logan as “Spida D” continued his Utah college tour.
Utah State treated them well, too; the Jazz men got customized jerseys and were invited to the pregame coin toss as honorary captains.
And most importantly, the Aggies won, 42-32.
