RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina State coach Kevin Keatts says sophomore Omer Yurtseven intends to pursue a professional career or transfer.
Keatts said in a statement Wednesday that the Turkish 7-footer had notified him of his plans and that the program will grant Yurtseven's release.
Yurtseven averaged 13.5 points and 6.7 rebounds for the Wolfpack (21-12). He also shot 57 percent from the floor and stretched his range, making 22 of 44 3-pointers.
Yurtseven helped the Wolfpack upset Arizona, Duke and North Carolina along with earning an NCAA Tournament bid after the program's 2-year absence. Yurtseven had two points and two rebounds before fouling out in 14 minutes in the first-round NCAA loss to Seton Hall.
