MOREHEAD, Ky. (AP) — A.J. Hicks scored 15 points and Morehead State used two second-half surges to beat Tennessee-Martin 70-53 on Thursday night, snapping an eight-game skid.

De'Von Cooper scored five points and Jordan Walker added a dunk and layup during the decisive run that gave Morehead State (7-21, 3-14 Ohio Valley Conference) a 56-44 lead with 7:24 remaining. UT Martin (9-21, 4-13) pulled to 58-50, but the Eagles closed on a 12-3 run. Londell King had five points and Hicks added four in the final stretch.

Hicks made 10 of 13 free throws and had seven assists and nine steals. King finished with 14 points and Cooper had 12. Morehead State forced 26 turnovers and shot 21 of 26 (81 percent) from the free-throw line.

Matthew Butler scored 14 points to lead UT Martin. Terrence Parker had 12 points and 20 of the Skyhawks' 43 rebounds.
