OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Tres Barrera and Patrick Mathis each homered and drove in four runs Thursday, and Texas stayed alive in the Big 12 tournament with a 15-3 victory over Baylor in a game shortened to seven innings because of the 10-run rule.
The Longhorns (23-32) will play another elimination game Friday night against the loser of Thursday night's game between TCU and Oklahoma State.
Texas jumped on Baylor starter Drew Tolson (6-4) for seven runs in 2 1/3 innings. Barrera hit a three-run homer and Kacy Clemens followed with a solo shot to put the Longhorns up 7-1. Mathis' three-run homer highlighted a seven-run seventh for Texas.
Longhorns starter Morgan Cooper (3-5) pitched all seven innings, giving up three runs on 10 hits.
Baylor (24-29) had won two of three meetings with Texas during the regular season.
