BYU Basketball's offseason roster shuffle continued Thursday with the news that center Ian Harward is discontinuing his hoops career because of injury.

In a press release issued by the school, head coach Dave Rose said Harward (a redshirt freshman in 2012-13) will remain a student at BYU.

A return missionary in 2011-12, Harward redshirted during his true freshman campaign. Coming off a back injury suffered last summer, Harward struggled to regain his playing form in the 2013-14 season. Logging only six minutes in the season's first three games, Harward then saw more consistent time over the ensuing few weeks, scoring in six consecutive games at one point. However, he never regained full health, and appeared in only eight of BYU's final 20 games, failing to score in any of them. His last points came on a field goal recorded against Virginia Tech on Dec. 29.

"We are sorry to lose Ian to injury," Rose said in the press release. "He is a fantastic teammate and one of the hardest workers we have had in our program. He will be missed in the locker room and on the floor. We wish him and his wife Sarah the very best."

"I'm disappointed that my basketball career is ending," said Harward "I've loved being a part of this program and playing with my teammates. They're a great group of guys and I'll miss being a part of that. My wife and I are excited to complete our education here at BYU and to move on to the next stage in life."

Of 13 roster players from the 2012-13 campaign, only six are projected to return in 2013-14: Tyler Haws, Matt Carlino, Nate Austin, Josh Sharp, Anson Winder and Agustin Ambrosino.

One returned missionary and three newcomers are lined up for the coming season: Kyle Collinsworth (RM), Eric Mika, Luke Worthington and Skyler Halford.

Ten players committed leave Rose with three open scholarships for the 2013-14 campaign. The spring National Letter of Intent signing period ends next Wednesday.
