With Utah State basketball player Danny Berger remaining hospitalized in critical condition after his on-court collapse on Tuesday, officials from USU and BYU have announced the postponement of the teams' Marriott Center meeting scheduled for tonight.

Utah State's press release on the situation reads:

"Athletics officials from BYU and Utah State have determined that tonight's men's basketball game between the two universities will be postponed due to the serious medical condition of USU student-athlete Danny Berger that occurred during practice on Tuesday.

The game was originally scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. in Provo and will be rescheduled for a later date.

USU junior forward Danny Berger (Medford, Ore.) was tended to on the court by the USU Athletic Training staff, CPR was performed and the AED (automated external defibrillator) was used on him until ambulance personnel arrived. Berger is currently in critical condition at Intermountain Medical Center in Murray.

Tests and evaluations are ongoing, and further information will be released when available."

BYU's official announcement of the decision noted that "the thoughts and prayers of the BYU athletic department are with Danny and his family at this time."

During his weekly show on KSL Newsradio, BYU head coach Dave Rose briefly addressed the Berger situation, when the player's health status was still relatively unclear and the status of tonight's game was still yet to be determined.

"It's really sad," said Rose. "I can't imagine...you kind of put yourself in that position if it happened in your practice. Your players, you're so close together, and everybody has such great relationships with each other. I feel for the staff, I feel for the players, I feel for Danny, his family...all we can do now is wait and see what happens, and hope for the very best."
