SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — CJ Verdell ran for 208 yards and broke open the game with two long touchdown runs in the fourth quarter, and No. 13 Oregon spoiled No. 5 Utah's playoff hopes with a 37-15 victory in the Pac-12 championship game. The Utes came into the game hoping to make a case for one of the four playoff spots with a conference title but instead got overmatched by Oregon and lost their second straight Pac-12 championship game.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Sophia Smith scored three goals and Stanford advanced to the NCAA Women's College Cup championship with a 4-1 victory over UCLA on Friday night. The top-ranked Cardinal will face second-ranked North Carolina in Sunday's title game at San Jose's Avaya Stadium. The Tar Heels beat Washington State 2-1 in Friday's earlier semifinal. Stanford, the Pac-12 Conference champion, has won 18 straight heading into the championship game. Stanford has won two national championships. North Carolina has won 22.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — North Carolina outlasted underdog Washington State 2-1 on Friday for a berth in the women's NCAA College Cup title game. North Carolina will vie for its 23rd championship on Sunday against Stanford, which defeated UCLA 4-1 in the other semifinal. The Cougars made it to the Final Four for the first time in any sport. Alexis Strickland's header in the 38th minute gave the Tar Heels the winning margin.

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) — The Stanford women's basketball team is focusing on other things besides its new No. 1 ranking in the AP poll. The players have final exams coming up next week. Hall of Fame coach Tara VanDerveer also isn't interested in rankings. She regularly reminds her players to focus on efforts to be playing their best basketball come NCAA Tournament time in March. Still, this is new territory for this group. Stanford is atop the poll for the first time since a six-week stretch at No. 1 in late 2012.

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — The 20th-ranked University of Colorado Buffaloes haven't won a game at the University of Kansas' storied Allen Fieldhouse since the 1982-83 season. That's when Colorado coach Tad Boyle was a member of the Jayhawks team. The Buffaloes have lost 29 straight games at Kansas but they won the last time these teams met on a buzzer-beating 3-pointer in 2013.

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Nick Rakocevic had a tip-in in the final second and Southern Cal beat TCU 80-78. The Horned Frogs had come back 18-point deficit after halftime to tie the game. Rakocevic got the game-winning points with two-tenths of a second left on the clock after a miss by Ethan Anderson. TCU got a timeout, but then had an inbound infraction before being able to get off a desperation shot. TCU tied the game at 78 on Kevin Samuel's layup while being fouled with 8 seconds remaining. But Samuel missed the go-ahead free throw and Rakocevic grabbed the rebound.
