LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Louisville football player Kemari Averett was arrested and charged with putting a gun to his girlfriend's head and threatening to kill her. The tight end was suspended from the team. According to the arrest citation, the confrontation began when Averett realized his laptop was missing from a backpack returned by his girlfriend. The player remains held on $10,000 bond after pleading not guilty. University police charged him with first-degree wanton endangerment and fourth-degree assault.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida State has returned to practice field following a bye week and in the wake of Hurricane Michael after a rocky start under first-year football coach Willie Taggart. Hurricane Michael forced the school to shut down during the schedule off-week for football players. Now Florida State is preparing for Saturday's ACC matchup with Wake Forest.

UNDATED (AP) — Tua Tagovailoa and four of his Alabama teammates highlight The Associated Press midseason All-America first team. Tagovailoa, the prolific quarterback of the top-ranked Crimson Tide, has 21 touchdown passes and no interceptions without having to attempt a pass in the fourth quarter because Alabama has been so thoroughly dominant.
