ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have placed rookie right-hander John Gant on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained side.

Gant left Monday night's 8-3 loss to Cleveland in the third inning with the left oblique injury. He is 1-2 with a 4.45 ERA in 11 games, including four starts.

The Braves recalled right-hander Casey Kelly from Triple-A Gwinnett. Kelly is 0-2 with a 5.79 ERA in eight games, including one start, with Atlanta this season. He was optioned to Gwinnett on June 16.
