OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Oakland Athletics right-hander Chris Bassitt will need reconstructive surgery on his injured pitching elbow.
Bassitt was examined in Cincinnati on Thursday by Dr. Timothy Kremchek who determined Bassitt needs ulnar collateral ligament replacement surgery on his right elbow. The surgery is scheduled for Friday.
Bassitt was 0-2 with a 6.11 ERA in five starts with the A's. He allowed a career-high seven runs on 10 hits in 3 2-3 innings last Thursday in Detroit and was placed on the disabled list the following day.
