BERLIN (AP) — German authorities have arrested a 23-year-old Syrian on suspicion of membership in a terror organization for allegedly fighting for the extremist Islamic State group in his homeland.
Federal prosecutors said in a statement that Emad A., whose last name wasn't released in line with privacy laws, was arrested early Friday in the western state of Baden Wuerttemberg.
He's accused of joining the Islamic State group in 2013 and fighting for it in multiple engagements in Syria.
Prosecutors did not say when the suspect entered Germany nor how he came to authorities' attention.
