SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah County authorities say a woman is dead after the vehicle she was riding in hit a horse.

They say the horse wandered onto state Route 198 in Payson late Saturday night.

Utah Department of Public Safety officials tell the Deseret News that the man driving the vehicle was taken to an area hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

The names of the woman who died and the man who was injured haven't been released yet.

DPS officials say the couple were in their mid to late 60s.
