CHICAGO (AP) — The Latest on the funeral for a Chicago Police commander killed in the line of duty (all times local):

12:20 p.m.

A Chicago Police commander who was gunned down by a suspect this week is being remembered as a "model cop" who wasn't interested in self-promotion, even as he moved up the department's ranks.

Speakers at Commander Paul Bauer's funeral Saturday said he was most proud of his titles as husband to his wife, Erin, and father to his daughter, Grace.

Former First Deputy Superintendent John Escalante, who grew up with Bauer, says "Erin and Grace were everything" to the 53-year-old.

Bauer died Tuesday after he responded to a call for help from fellow officers and was shot six times as he pursued a suspect. Prosecutors have charged 44-year-old Shomari Legghette with the killing.

Officers from across the U.S. joined other mourners, including Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Gov. Bruce Rauner and former Mayor Richard Daley, at the service.

Scores of police officers and other mourners will attend the funeral of a Chicago Police commander who was fatally shot by a suspect this week.

Representatives of police agencies from around the U.S. are also expected to attend services for Commander Paul Bauer on Saturday morning at Nativity of Our Lord Church in Chicago. A procession also is planned.

Bauer died Tuesday when he was shot six times while pursuing a suspect he was attempting to detain downtown Chicago. Officials have charged 44-year-old Shomari Legghette with the 53-year-old commander's killing. A judge has ordered Legghette held without bond.

Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner has ordered flags be flown at half-staff to honor Bauer. The city has made sympathy books available to be signed at City Hall and the 18th police district.
