GOLDSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Authorities say two people were injured during a disturbance at the Neuse Correctional Institution in Goldsboro, North Carolina
Local media outlets report that an inmate and a prison employee were hurt during the disturbance that began Sunday around 7 p.m.
Communications director for the N.C. Department of Public Safety Pamela Walker told media that inmates started at least two fires during the nearly two hour incident.
Walker says the prison employee is being treated for minor injuries and the inmate was treated at a hospital and released.
She says the scene was under control by around 9 p.m. and that all inmates were back in cells.
The prison is located about 55 miles southeast of Raleigh.
In addition to the sheriff's office, Goldsboro police, Highway Patrol and the Department of Public Safety responded to the scene.
