PUYALLUP, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say a large fire has damaged at least 28 buses belonging to the Puyallup School District.

Puyallup police tweeted Wednesday afternoon that sounds of explosions were coming from the fire and that roads in the area were closed.

Central Pierce Fire tweeted a photo of thick black smoke coming from the blaze.

Authorities said 70 people were at the facility at the time of the fire and that people were successfully evacuated along with those in nearby buildings due to smoke. No injuries were immediately reported.

Puyallup police said the fire was brought under control by about 3:40 p.m.

Sound Transit said commuter trains would be moving through the area at low speeds due to the fire and that people should expect delays.

Puyallup is about 36 miles south of Seattle.
