DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. (AP) — Maryland police have charged a man in a shooting that left three people dead and two injured.

Prince George's County Police said in a news release that 24-year-old Lawrence Sylvester Rogers Jr. of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was arrested Wednesday night in Washington. He's charged with three counts each of first- and second-degree murder.

Police went to the District Heights, Maryland, home late on June 24 for a reported shooting. Officers found three people dead: 50-year-old Carlina Gray of District Heights; 55-year-old Jan Parks of Landover, and 60-year-old Allen Rowlett of Forestville.

Investigators say two other people were injured and taken to local hospitals. One remains in critical condition.

Police said at a news conference Thursday that the motive for the slayings remains unclear.
