MINDEN, Nev. (AP) — Six Douglas County deputies involved in the fatal shooting of a man after he reportedly pointed weapons at them in Gardnerville have been identified.
The Reno Gazette-Journal reports (http://on.rgj.com/1ePz7d7 ) that all six have been placed on paid administrative leave following the death of 48-year-old Mark Perkins Thursday.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said Monday that the deputies were Sgt. Dan Coverley, Sgt. Dave Stanley, Investigator Jon Storke, Jeff Johnsen, Matt Saylo, and Justin Williams.
Deputies responded Thursday to Perkins' home after reports that he had threatened to kill a neighbor and shoot his wife and police. He had been armed with multiple weapons.
Authorities say Perkins pointed two weapons at deputies, who then opened fire on him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
