RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say 16 people have been driven from their homes after a fire at a Reno apartment complex.

The blaze started about 11 a.m. Saturday at the complex in the northwest part of the city.

Firefighters say a dog was rescued from the unit where the fire started.

Most of the damage was contained to that apartment, but others had smoke damage and eight units were unlivable Saturday night.

The Red Cross is helping 12 displaced residents with shelter and other needs.

Fire authorities are investigating how the blaze started.
