MOAB, Utah (AP) — Authorities say a 66-year-old Minnesota man was found dead near the Fisher Towers hiking trail in eastern Utah.

Grand County sheriff's officials say they recovered the body of Duluth resident Robert Bergquist early Friday morning. A cause of death was not immediately known.

Deputies say they got a report Thursday that Bergquist had not returned to the Red Cliffs Lodge in Moab after going on a hike. Officials say his Jeep was found in the parking area of Fisher Towers, a recreation area featuring red sandstone formations.

Searchers who followed shoe tracks and a trail of discarded water bottles found him dead near the trail.

His body was airlifted to the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office in Salt Lake City.
