HENDERSON, Colo. (AP) — A woman taking photographs over the weekend of a steam locomotive was struck and killed after getting too close to tracks north of Denver.
The 15-car Union Pacific historic train was arriving at Denver Saturday from Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming when the woman was hit near a crossing in Henderson. Her name hasn't been released.
She was among several people taking photos of the train after its annual trip to the parade and rodeo sponsored by The Denver Post Community Foundation. About 700 people were aboard. No other injuries were reported.
The train is pulled by the last steam engine built for Union Pacific, which was delivered in 1944.
