HOUSTON (AP) — Federal prosecutors say a 42-year-old Houston man has pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $3.4 million from a Dallas-based design and construction company where he was construction manager for a downtown Houston luxury hotel project.
U.S. Attorney Ryan Patrick says Moses Said had worked for The Beck Group of Dallas in charge of Houston's Le Meridien Hotel project in 2016 and 2017 and approved and submitted invoices for payment for construction products that weren't provided and services that weren't performed.
He was charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Eight others have been charged in the scheme.
Said faces up to 20 years in prison at his sentencing set for Sept. 17 before U.S. District Judge Vanessa Gilmore.
