5:55 p.m.
Officials say the condition of one of two men attacked by a cougar while mountain biking outside Seattle has been upgraded to satisfactory. The second man involved in the attack was killed at the scene.
Officials in Washington state say a cougar that attacked the two men riding bicycles near North Bend, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) east of Seattle.
The 31-year-old survivor was taken to a hospital in Seattle. He was initially listed in serious condition in the emergency room but was alert and talking. His condition was later upgraded to satisfactory, The Seattle Times reported.
Capt. Alan Myers of the state's Fish & Wildlife Police says agents using a hound-dog tracker shot and killed the cougar shortly before 3 p.m.
Officials say there has only been one other fatal attack in Washington in the past 100 years.

Capt. Alan Myers of the state's Fish & Wildlife Police says agents using a hound-dog tracker shot and killed the cougar shortly before 3 p.m., the Seattle Times reported.
King County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Ryan Abbott said Saturday the two people were on a mountain bike ride in North Bend when the attack occurred.
North Bend is about 30 miles (48 kilometers) east of Seattle. The injured victim was transported to a hospital in serious condition.
Officials say there has only been one other fatal attack in the past 100 years.

A man who was injured by a cougar while riding a mountain bike in Washington state is in serious condition at a Seattle hospital.
Harborview Medical Center said in a statement Saturday the 31-year-old man was alert and talking in the emergency department.
King County Sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Ryan Abbott says another man was killed in the morning attack in the foothills near North Bend.
His body was still being removed from the scene.
Abbott says the cougar ran into the woods and officers with the Washington Department of Fish and Game are trying to track it.
North Bend is about 30 miles (48 kilometers) east of Seattle.
