MAMARONECK, N.Y. (AP) — A former office assistant for a New York business has pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $1 million from her employer.

The Journal News reports (http://lohud.us/2m7j2YD ) that 60-year-old Joann Perrino, of Yonkers, made transfers and wrote checks from her company's account to finance personal purchases. The Westchester County District Attorney's Office says Perrino used company funds to cover everything from car and mortgage payments to travel arrangements.

Officials say Perrino started stealing in January 2009 and did not stop until she was arrested by town of Mamaroneck police in 2014.

The district attorney's office announced Perrino pleaded guilty to second-degree grand larceny on Tuesday. She faces up to 15 years in prison and will have to pay back funds she stole as part of her sentence.
