OGDEN, Utah (AP) — Utah is warning rabbit owners to avoid feeding their animals food manufactured in Ogden after the death of more than 500 rabbits.

The Standard-Examiner reports (http://bit.ly/2dM9GxI ) that the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food says more than 500 commercially grown rabbits have died since May after eating feed sold under the name "Commercial Rabbit."

The department is also warning people not to eat rabbits that have consumed the food and advising producers to bury or incinerate dead rabbits to prevent other animals being exposed to potential contamination.

The feed made by Ogden-based company Cache Commodities will be tested by the department. The department says Cache Commodities is in the process of recalling and replacing all feed that has been distributed since May.

The company didn't immediately return a call from the Associated Press seeking comment.
