Markets Right Now: Stocks end lower after 4 weeks of gains

NEW YORK (AP) — The latest on developments in global financial markets (all times local):

4:00 p.m.

Stocks are ending lower on Wall Street as the market pulls back after a four-week drive that brought it to record highs.

Energy companies fell more than the rest of the market Monday as the price of oil took another turn lower. Chevron lost 2.5 percent. The price of oil is down 12 percent this month.

Yahoo fell 2.7 percent after Verizon said it would buy Yahoo's internet businesses.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 77 points, or 0.4 percent, to 18,493.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 6 points, or 0.3 percent, to 2,168. The Nasdaq composite edged down 2 points, or 0.1 percent, to 5,097.

Bond prices barely budged. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note held steady at 1.57 percent.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 11 points, or 0.5 percent, to 2,163. The Nasdaq composite was down 13 points, or 0.3 percent, to 5,087.

Bond prices barely budged. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note held steady at 1.57 percent.

Kimberly-Clark, which makes consumer products including Kleenex and Huggies diapers, fell 1 percent after reporting disappointing sales outside the U.S.

Yahoo fell 1 percent after Verizon announced a deal to buy the company's internet businesses.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 57 points, or 0.3 percent, to 18,513.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 6 points, or 0.3 percent, to 2,168. The Nasdaq composite was down 6 points, or 0.1 percent, to 5,093.

Bond prices barely budged. The yield on the 10-year Treasury note held steady at 1.56 percent.
