NEW YORK (AP) — A father and a son have been convicted on weapons and other charges related to an international drug operation run out of their New York pizzeria.
A federal jury in Brooklyn delivered the verdicts Friday against Gregorio and Angelo Gigliotti.
Prosecutors argued the 60-year-old Gregorio Gigliotti and his wife ran a cocaine transport business from the Cucino a Modo Mio (I Cook It My Way) pizzeria in Queens. They say 36-year-old son Angelo Gigliotti worked for his father.
Authorities say the family coordinated the shipment of drugs and cash among Costa Rica, the U.S. and Italy.
Attorneys for the men haven't returned messages seeking comment.
Authorities said last March after their arrests the scheme showed growing ties between southern Italian crime syndicates and New York's traditional Cosa Nostra crime clans.
