ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Teachers in the state's largest school district have approved a contract extension.
The Alaska Dispatch News reports (http://is.gd/Oa8MXz) members of the Anchorage teachers' union accepted the extension this week. It calls for a 1 percent raise next year, a one-time $1,000 bonus for the Anchorage School District's 3,400 educators and a modest bump in monthly insurance contributions.
The school board still must accept the extension, which would move the expiration date on the current contract to June 30, 2017.
