BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho horse breeders could end up empty-handed due to a dispute about how the money collected from lucrative betting machines should be distributed.
The Idaho Racing Commission discussed the topic Wednesday, but delayed making a decision until October.
There is a disagreement over how much the breeder fund should be split between the thoroughbred and quarter horse accounts. If it's not solved by December, the money automatically goes to public schools.

Horse breeder officials argued in 2013 that instant horse racing machines needed to be legalized to help keep their industry afloat. The law was passed, but the legality of the machines is currently being challenged in court.
