SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The National Park Service is pressing Utah environmental regulars to crack down on emissions at two coal-fired power plants to improve air quality and views in the state's five national parks. The agency says haze mars vistas at the parks about three-fourths of the time in violation of federal regulations mandating upgrades at the nation's dirtiest power plants to protect their air quality.

BLUFF, Utah (AP) — Utah Navajos are leading a campaign to create a new conservation area in the southeastern corner of Utah to stake a claim to what they consider their homeland. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that the Navajo hosted a tour of the area to demonstrate why the area deserves federal designation. The 1.9 million-acre proposal is larger than three other plans to expand federal land protections in the region, including the Greater Canyonlands proposal.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A funeral service has been set for a Salt Lake City couple who died within a few hours of each other after being married for 74 years. Madelyn Yensen died at the age of 94 on April 7 after suffering a seizure, while her husband, Marcus, died at the age of 95 of heart failure about five hours later the same day.

OGDEN, Utah (AP) — A dog has been reunited with a Utah family, two years after it went missing in Lexington, Kentucky. Jennifer Lowe of Ogden says her family was thrilled to learn the Beagle mix named Tilly was found in Lexington days ago and identified through an implanted microchip with information about the animal's owners.
