Cattle ranchers in Spanish Fork suffered devastating losses to their livestock after the Pole Creek Fire swept through Sweat Creek Canyon. The fire killed more than 50 cows and calves, most of the animals died due to smoke inhalation while some burned where they stood.

Downtown soup kitchen getting $1.5 million remodel, new work training program

Thanks to about $1.5 million in donations, Catholic Community Services is planning to renovate its soup kitchen across the street from the downtown shelter — and also launch a new training program to help the homeless find jobs in food service.
