SALT LAKE CITY — The 911 connection issues that plagued law enforcement agencies across the state Saturday have been resolved, departments are reporting Sunday morning.
Multiple cities, including Salt Lake City, St. George and Provo, reported problems with callers reaching 911 Saturday, asking them instead to contact nonemergency lines in the meantime.
The problem affected multiple carriers intermittently throughout the day.
St. George police attributed local problems to a Verizon Wireless power outage. Summit County suggested its problem may involve Verizon as well.
Lisa Burnette, executive director of Salt Lake City 911, said on Saturday that the problem was intermittent and began about 9:30 a.m.
Dispatch centers including Bountiful, Summit County, Provo and Salt Lake City had been affected. Some carriers automatically roll over to the nonemergency line if they can't get through to 911, Burnette said, but not all of them.
The 911 issue had been resolved, so it is indeed a good morning 🌄! Please keep the non-emergency numbers handy, just in case there is an emergency with the emergency system😳. Thank your for your techie understanding😄.
