PROVO — A Utah County Jail inmate who previously escaped while in a treatment program was captured over the weekend, authorities say.
Ryan Thomas Miller, 26, was captured Saturday after a traffic stop in Salt Lake County, according to a news release from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office. He had been missing since October 14.
Investigators determined he was at a home in Salt Lake County. Detectives saw a car leave the home and recognized Miller in the back seat of the car, officials said in the release.
Miller allegedly had methamphetamine and heroin when detectives located him, according to the release.
Previously, Miller was being held in jail for investigation of possession of a controlled substance, theft, attempted possession of a credit card and forgery, according to the release.
Miller had been admitted to a drug court program through 4th District Court in Utah County and was allowed to wear a GPS ankle monitor while living at Odyssey House of Utah, the release stated. Miller was not in custody at the Utah County Jail, but was only allowed to leave the jail as part of the treatment program, according to the release.
On October 14, Miller removed the ankle monitor and left Odyssey House, according to the release.
Miller likely will face a felony escape charge in his case, according to the release. Jail booking records were not available for him as of Monday morning.
