OREM — One man died early Saturday morning after officials say his vehicle left the road at 400 North and Geneva Road in Orem.

The crash was called in by a Utah County Sheriff's deputy about 2 a.m. Orem police and medical personnel responded, extricated the man from the vehicle and attempted to save him, but Orem Police Sgt. Brian Luangsawasdi said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was identified as 35-year-old James Royal Griffin.

Police are investigating speed as a possible factor in the crash, but its cause has not yet been determined, Luangsawasdi said.

Editor's note: An earlier version of this article mistakenly referred to Orem Police Sgt. Brian Luangsawasdi as Orem Police Sgt. Brian Luangsawasei. This has been corrected.
