MILLCREEK — A father who allegedly got mad at his young daughter has been charged with breaking the toddler’s arm.

Shawn Michael Beckman, 30, of Millcreek, was charged Monday in 3rd District Court with child abuse, a second-degree felony.

On July 29, a Unified police officer was called to Primary Children’s Hospital where a 4-year-old girl was being treated for a possible broken arm, according to charging documents. The girl told police that her father, Beckman, “turned her arm behind her back and her arm broke,” the charges state.

Doctors determined the girl had an elbow fracture that required surgery. They told investigators that the injury could only have been caused by a fall on an extended arm, or “a forceful blow to the elbow,” the charges state.
