SALT LAKE CITY — Six people were indicted last month after police seized 195 pounds of meth they say was bound for sale in Weber and Davis counties.
Officials responded to information that Christopher Spraw, a 49-year-old man from Ogden and alleged member of the Silent Aryan Warriors white supremacist gang, was working with others to sell large amounts of meth and heroin in the area. He has been indicted on charges of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, conspiracy to distribute heroin, and illegal possession of a firearm.
Other defendants include Kearns resident Damian Buenrostro, 22, and Ogden residents Sheila Mary Deroboam, 52, Heidi Lynn Openshaw, 40, and Vanessa Dominguez, 33. It’s not known where another defendant, Manuel Ramblano Sanchez Jr., age 24, is living.
The indictments are part of the ongoing Project Safe Neighborhoods, a Weber County-based crackdown on drug and gun crimes. Officials mentioned the bust during a press conference last week highlighting the project's accomplishments.
The FBI, the Davis Metro Narcotics Strike Force, and the Weber-Morgan Strike Force collaborated on the bust, according to a Sept. 13 news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Salt Lake City.
In addition to the conspiracy to distribute charges, Buenrostro is charged with possession of meth with intent to distribute, and both Buenrostro and Deroboam are charged with possession of heroin with intent to distribute.
The release says Buenrostro and Sanchez have pending arrest warrants, and U.S. Attorney’s Office public information officer Melodie Rydalch said they remained at large as of Thursday.
The 195 pounds of methamphetamine, along with 1 pound of heroin, were seized during the execution of a search warrant in Kearns, according to the release. “The defendants face up to life in prison with a mandatory minimum 10 years if convicted of the conspiracy to distribute meth count,” according to the release.
According to the indictment, police are also seeking to seize a total of $55,134 found in the homes of four of the defendants, including $35,660 from Buenrostro’s residence.
Spraw’s record includes a 2002 federal conviction for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
