GARDEN CITY — A dump truck hauling asphalt lost its brakes and crashed into the same area where some storage units were destroyed last week in a similar accident, officials said.
The latest crash happened Tuesday about 3 p.m. in the area known as Raspberry Square, the T-intersection of on state Route 89 and North Bear Lake Blvd, Utah Highway Patrol troopers said.
The truck's driver and passenger suffered minor injuries and no one else was hurt in the incident, Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Lee Perry said. The driver had to be extricated from the vehicle, Perry said. Both were treated and released on scene, officials said.
The passenger-side tires were on fire and had to be extinguished, troopers said.
On Thursday, a semitruck destroyed a storage unit in the same area after it crashed through the intersection. The driver in that case suffered minor injuries, officials said.
Tuesday’s crash damaged three condo garages, UHP officials said. Officials originally said it had damaged three new storage units.
In October 2018, a semitruck driver was killed when his truck crashed through a store that used to be at this intersection.
