EMIGRATION CANYON — Evacuees were let back into their homes Tuesday after a fire near the top of Emigration Canyon did not spread overnight.
All evacuation orders were lifted as of 9 a.m., according to Unified Fire Authority officials. It was estimated to be fully contained by about 7 p.m., officials said.
Temperatures Tuesday were again expected to reach triple digits in the Salt Lake area. A red flag warning was in effect until midnight for much of western Utah, including the entire Wasatch Front, according to KSL Weather's Grant Weyman.

The Emigration Canyon Fire started about 6 p.m. Monday near the junction of Emigration Canyon Road and Pinecrest Canyon Road. As of 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, it had burned about 10 acres, according to Unified Fire Authority Spokesman Ryan Love.
Fire officials reported Monday that the fire was threatening structures, but none had burned as of Tuesday. There were no injuries as a result of the blaze. The fire was burning in sage and oak brush, Love said.
Residents along Pinecrest Canyon Road, from Emigration Canyon Road to North Killyons Lane, were evacuated on Monday evening.
Pinecrest Canyon Road will be open to homeowners only, officials said. There will be no access to the public until further notice due to congested roads and to keep firefighters safe, officials said.

Fire officials were planning to devote as many resources as possible to the blaze to make sure it does not grow any more, Love said. There were 40 firefighters working overnight into Tuesday, and 100 more will be added Tuesday, he said. Three helicopters and several engines will also be attacking the fire, he added.
Officials had not yet determined a cause as of Tuesday morning, Love said. He added that investigators were on scene looking into that.
He said officials plan for fires similar to the one that ignited Monday.
“We’re expecting stuff like this up these canyons,” he said. “It’s a tinderbox up here.”
