MANTI — Two men face felony charges after allegedly attacking two teen boys during a scuffle at a mink farm where they all worked.
Rudy Aguado, 28, of Mount Pleasant, and Oscar Manuel Garcia, 21, of Chester, Sanpete County, were each charged Tuesday in 6th District Court with aggravated assault resulting in serious bodily injury, a second-degree felony, and aggravated assault act with force/violence to injure, a third-degree felony.
According to an affidavit written in support of the men's arrests, the incident happened on a November night as the teens were waiting for a ride home from the mink farm on state Route 161 east of Moroni, Sanpete County.
Police learned of the alleged attack after one of a 15-year-old boys "came clean" to his mother about how he's received a broken ankle.
According to the teen, Aguado and Garcia tied up a 16-year-old co-worker with a rope and the 15-year-old helped untie the co-worker.
The boy said that Aguado and Garcia then got him "on the ground and had a rope around his neck and he could not breathe." The boy "was kicking and trying to get them off of him," police said.
The men also threw a large rock at him and hit him in the leg, the teen told police.
The 15-year-old said he eventually got on top of a horse trailer in an attempt to get away from the men, but Garcia allegedly followed him up.
The teen jumped off of the trailer to get away, police said, and broke his ankle, causing him to scream.
Aguado's father came out from a shed and told Aguado and Garcia to stop and take the 15-year-old to a hospital, according to the affidavit.
Pictures of the 15-year-old showed marks on his back from the attack, police said, and he was wearing a medical boot on his left foot for his ankle.
Police arrested Aguado and Garcia at the mink farm on March 13.
