HERRIMAN — Police on Tuesday released security images of a man they said used a credit card days after it had been stolen during a bizarre armed robbery at a candy store on Halloween. Now they’re hoping the public can help them identify the man.

Herriman police responded to a report of an armed robbery at Salt City Sweet Shop, 5136 W. 13400 South, on Oct. 31. A man dressed as Spider-Man entered the business and demanded money while threatening two employees with a handgun and stun gun, according to Herriman Police Lt. Cody Stromberg.

The man left with several hundred dollars and also took credit cards belonging to the store owner, Stromberg said. Days later, a man used one of those credit cards at a Smith’s in West Jordan.

Police were able to grab surveillance video from the store. Stromberg said the man in the video is described as white, possibly in his late 30s with a slim build. He is also believed to have “scraggly” brown hair and facial hair. He was also wearing a black t-shirt with “Polo” written on the front. He was also wearing gray pants and jacket.

Stromberg previously said the man is between 5-foot 5 and 6-feet tall.

Anyone with information about the man is encouraged to call Herriman City police at 801-871-3561 or emergency dispatch at 801-840-4000.
