LEHI — A section of southbound I-15 will be closed Wednesday night and northbound I-15 will be closed Thursday night to allow construction crews to place beams for a new bridge over the freeway, Utah Department of Transportation officials said Tuesday.
Southbound lanes will be closed from Main Street in Lehi to 2100 North at 11 p.m. and will remain closed until about 4 a.m. the next morning, UDOT spokesman John Gleason said in a statement. All drivers will be diverted at the exit to 2100 North and detoured through State Street and onto 850 East before getting back onto I-15 southbound at Main Street.
Northbound lanes will also be closed at 11 p.m. Thursday. Drivers will be diverted at Main Street and will go through the same detour as the night before, but returning to the freeway at 2100 North. The freeway is expected to again reopen at 4 a.m.
Gleason said motorists should expect delays on both nights and advised drivers to use alternate routes or adjust their schedules for the closure.

The beams are part of a new bridge being constructed to connect 600 East over I-15, and will replace an old one, as a part of the I-15 Technology Corridor project, Gleason added. The project, which is aimed at improving traffic flow in northern Utah County, also includes widening I-15 from four to six lanes in each direction in the area and rebuilding the freeway between Main Street and state Route 92.
The project will also change the interchanges at 2100 North and S.R. 92, constructing a new bridge over I-15 at Triumph Boulevard and adding a new frontage road system, according to Gleason.
The project is expected to be completed by 2020.
