SALT LAKE CITY — Police are looking for two men who they believe stole a credit card from a Salt Lake residence before charging the card at a nearby grocery store.
On July 24, between 6 and 7 a.m., two men entered a home near 1100 East and Princeton Avenue through an unlocked basement door, according to Salt Lake police detective Greg Wilkin. The men stole a credit card, handbag and some drums from the home while the resident was asleep.
The two men immediately headed to a Smith’s grocery store at 800 South and 900 East, where they used the credit card, police said. The men were caught on camera leaving the store with the purchased items, and police are now distributing the images, asking the public for help identifying them.
“We’re thinking that because the credit card was taken from the burglary of the house and immediately used at the Smith’s, that, if we can identify the two suspects, they’re our burglars,” Wilkins said.
The two left the parking lot in a black pickup truck.
