WEST JORDAN — Road spikes and patience gave police the upper hand when pursuing a stolen car in Midvale.
The pursuit started around 9 p.m. Monday near 7200 South and State Street in Midvale when police found a black Suburban that was reported stolen.
The vehicle's driver would not stop for police, and initially they did not chase the Suburban. The driver headed west and let a passenger out of the vehicle.
Officers put down spikes and the vehicle crashed into a tree after hitting them near 1500 West and 7200 South in West Jordan.
Police arrested Harley Bickford of Ogden for investigation of parole violations and fleeing from police. The passenger was questioned by police and released.
Investigators haven't determined if the Suburban was stolen, or just the plates.
