SALT LAKE CITY — Go-karts, bumper boats and video games are activities that any 10-year-old boy would love.
So when Joshua said he wanted to spend his special day as Wednesday’s Child doing these things, it wasn’t a surprise.
Joshua’s life has taken many twists and turns. The state removed him from his home and placed him in foster care a couple of years ago. But if you ask him, it feels like much longer than that.
“A long time,” he said. “Very long.”
Joshua doesn’t like talking about why he’s in foster care, but there is one thing he’d like his future family to know.
“I’m a happy kid,” Joshua said. “Yeah, I am.”
The third grader is happy when he’s in art class, playing football and playing video games. He would love to be a part of a family with other young children, and he keeps his fingers crossed that he has brothers to play with and "take them to the park," he said.
But most importantly, Joshua wants to have a “nice mom and dad.”
And that’s something every child needs and deserves.
