NORTH LOGAN (AP) — A 34-year-old man who was shot by police inside a northern Utah hospital emergency room after allegedly pulling out two handguns has been arrested.
Jason Burr of North Logan was arrested Friday after his release from University Hospital in Salt Lake City, where he was taken after the May 16 shooting.
The 34-year-old Burr is accused of walking into the emergency room at Cache Valley Hospital in North Logan with two loaded handguns ready to fire if he did not get the prescription drugs he wanted.
He was confronted by two corrections officers who happened to be at the hospital with an inmate. Burr was shot three times after he allegedly raised a gun to them.
According to family members, Burr was on pain pills for a back problem at the time.
He was arrested on various charges, including attempted aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person.
