TONY GROVE — A 10-year-old was transported to Primary Children’s Hospital after going over a 60-foot drop-off while snowmobiling on Sunday.

According a press release from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office, a group of people went snowmobiling near Tony Grove Lake. While the group took a break, a 10-year-old boy from Providence continued to ride his father’s snowmobile.

The boy didn’t see a steep drop-off until it was too late to stop, the press release stated. The snowmobile and the boy fell approximately 60 feet. He suffered injuries to his hip, left arm, and a puncture wound to his abdomen.

The Cache County Search and Rescue unit, along with AirMed and LifeFlight, were dispatched to the area based on the GPS coordinates from the cellphone of a member of the group, the press release said.

Medical responders were able to walk to the boy’s location and treat him at the scene. The boy was then transported to Primary Children’s Hospital for further care. Officials stated they did not know the boy’s condition.
