WEST JORDAN — West Jordan police are thanking the public for helping them identify two people suspected of stealing from a Lenscrafter store.

On April 11, police asked the public for help identifying the men who stole $2,700 worth of merchandise from the store. Tipsters contacted police with possible identities of the two men and even provided screen shots of one man’s Facebook page where police said he was offering stolen sunglasses for sale.

Police arrested Joseph Welch, 33, during a traffic stop April 12. Police said they located some of the stolen merchandise with Welch. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of felony theft and multiple outstanding warrants.

Officers located Travis Dominguez, 34, at a friend's home and arrested him around 3 a.m. Monday. He also was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of felony theft.

West Jordan police noted they often rely on the public and the media for help, but "we rarely see such a dramatic response."
