ROOSEVELT — A teenage driver has died from injuries suffered in a crash late Monday night, the Utah Highway Patrol said.
Mikael Duncan, 17, was speeding near 50 W. Cobblehollow Rd. about 10:40 p.m. when he lost control of his car, UHP Sgt. Todd Hull said. The car hit a dirt berm and vaulted through the air.
The car rolled and Duncan, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown 70 to 80 feet from the car, Hull said.
Duncan was taken to Uintah Basin Medical Center with internal injuries and broken bones.
The teen's heart stopped three times, but doctors were able to revive him, the sergeant said. They were moving Duncan to a medical helicopter for transport to a Salt Lake hospital about 1 a.m. when his heart stopped a fourth time and doctors were unable to restart it.
