MILLCREEK — An 86-year-old man crashed through two fences and into a backyard Sunday afternoon, police said.

Lt. Justin Hoyal of the Unified Police Department said the man was driving west on 3900 South in a GMC Envoy with an 86-year-old female passenger when he ran a red light at Wasatch Boulevard at about 2:30 p.m.

Hoyal said he believed the man was trying to get on the I-215 onramp, but he failed to negotiate the corner and crashed through a chainlink fence, then a wooden fence and came to a stop in the backyard of the residence at 3396 E. 3900 South.

According to Hoyal, the driver may have gotten his foot stuck on the gas pedal.

Both the male driver and his female passenger were taken to Intermountain Medical Center in fair condition, Hoyal said.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
